Love hearts

Standard

So, I am going to show you how to make these lovely, crochet love hearts. You can use them in so many ways. I’ve made this card to send to some friends who have just got engaged, but I think it would make a nice wedding invite too.

I’ve also used the heart pattern to make a colourful garland to go above my fire.

They are very versatile and take about 15 mins per heart, once you’ve got the hang of them.

To begin….

Rnd 1.
Chain 4. Now, you are going to do all of the following stitches in this round in the first chain.
3 treble crochet, 3 double crochet, chain 1, 1 treble crochet, chain 1, 3 double crochet, 3 treble crochet, chain 2 and slip stitch.

Rnd 2.
Chain 3, in the first treble from previous round, do a single crochet and a half double crochet, in following stitch do 3 half double crochet, in following stitch do 2 half double crochet, single crochet in the next 4 stitches. Chain 1. In the treble crochet do a double crochet, single crochet in next 4 stitches, 2 half double crochet in next stitch, 3 half double crochet in the next stitch, half double crochet and single crochet in following stitch, again 3 and slip stitch into the centre.

Rnd 3

Chain 3, in the top of the chain 3 from the previous row do a single crochet. In the next stitch do 2 single crochet. Single crochet the next stitch and. Do 2 single crochet in the next. Now, single crochet your way down in every stitch until you get to the point of the heart. Chain 1 at the point. Single crochet your way back up until you have 7 stitches left. Single crochet the next stitch, put 2 single crochets in the following, single crochet the next stitch, do 2 single crochets in the next and then chain 3 and slip stitch to the centre.

Poke your yarn to the back and pull a little to make it secure and the heart more defined after you have fastened off.

I’ve used  yoohoo glue to fasten it to some parchment paper and glued a matching button above it. I put a heavy book on top to encourage all the edges to be securely attached to the paper, and leave over night.  My friend loved it and said that everyone commented on it when they saw it….

If you want to make a garland then, Chain 50, attach by doing a single crochet into top of heart mound, chain 5, do the same on top of other heart mound and chain 10 in between hearts. Chain 50 after last heart and fasten off.

Other things then…

Today is Friday and so I like to prepare my home for the weekend. I like to change the flowers in my vase and so these are now outside. Aren’t they vibrant! It’s the mystery orange flowers that I still don’t know the identity of.  I gathered some more sweet peas for inside too. They keep on flowering and flowering.

After going to buy our fresh fruit and veg, I think I need a bigger fruit bowl!

image

Little b has certainly upped our fruit intake!  She munches her way through so much fruit and veg each week that it has really made us eat more ourselves too.

image

We went to buy some wool for our next project, some lovely chunky wool.

image

And not a crochet hook in sight!  Yikes!!!! I’ve not picked up any needles since November!

image

This box of goodies was given to me by aunty s.  She invited me up to the farm for a needlework lesson and taught me the ways of tapestry and cross stitch.  M had little b for the morning and I had a lovely couple of hours gleaming wisdom from someone who has been on this lovely planet much longer than me.  I managed to extract the date of her birthday too… Hence the secret red wool project! It’s in September so I need to get cracking!

image

A week later and I was instructed to bring my homework with me when I go to fetch my eggs. Mmm, better get cracking then, so I set up shop on the old wooden table whilst b was asleep for a couple of hours. Crikey!!!! It’s going to be a slow process!

image

Each row took an hour!

image

I hope I speed up! The plan is to create a vibrant tray cloth. I think it may rival my crochet blanket in how long it is going to take!

So, that’s all from me for now, more on aunty s’s present later! Xxxxxxxww
