Mmmmm…. When I walk in to my lounge it smells beautiful. I have two posies in there at the minute. I keep picking the sweet peas to encourage more flowers. They are just devine. I think next year I need to put more along the fence a bit closer together as they look a bit spread out. My nasturtiums are a bit lost along our hedge so I think I will mingle them with my sweetpeas next year. The flowers that were started in the green house are in a different league to the ones we planted straight in the ground…. Lessons to be learned every day! It really has been wedding season here. I have been to 4 this year!!!! it is a whole different experience going to a wedding with a toddler!!! the last wedding we went to was lovely. It was in the chapel of st. Mary magdalene’s in the grounds of Lincoln cathedral. We then just walked to the venue, still in the grounds and it was superb. We had the huge old cathedral towering over us on one side, and a terrific panoramic view of Lincoln on the other. The marquee was in a walled garden, so it was lovely and safe for little b to run around in and the bride had really, really pulled all the stops out to create a magical, English country garden theme. There were lawn games and lavender plants in terracotta pots placed around, that her mother had been growing and the most fantastic, pretty bunting in the garden and around the marquee that she must have been sewing for weeks. We are good friends of them but I never knew of brideys sewing and crafty talents. I was so impressed.

The ladies received beautiful handmade soap in pretty little fabric wrapping as their favours, and the gents….

Homemade raspberry vodka in pretty little bottles. Gingham was a theme and luggage labels which looked super. What was really fantastic, was the effort made for the little people. Each child had a draw-string bag with their own initial on it….

Filled with lovely, lovely goodies to occupy them. B was as good as gold at the table, even when daddy was doing his feared best man speech!

Individual letter stamps spelled out peoples names on their tags wrapped neatly around the napkins on gingham ribbon, a little like the above tag that was on m’s present. How time consuming to do each letter by hand, but how effective, and how lovingly done. I couldn’t throw these tags away as I can only imagine how long it all took. M’s gift tag now hangs on our mirror, and b’s name tag now adorns her bedroom door.

Best of all were the pretty paper windmills mixed with the flowers and the lavender plants. B loved them, and now they keep my houseplants company! Other things that are going on here then…

I’ve noticed that little beebop has quite a musical ear. Not surprising really. When she was living quite cosily in wombville and I was working, she would have had musical interactions accompanying her lazy days almost daily, and heard me and my school children singing all the time. From the moment she was born a song would soothe her troubles away and from a very early age she could pick out a beat. She is starting to show other musical signs, some that I am actually pretty amazed at and am left wondering, ‘was that a coincidence or did she actually mean to do that’. So, I am trying to foster this at the minute and we have been exploring mummys sax for the first time. She was pretty freaked out to start with because it’s such a loud sound but after me playing ‘wind the bobbin up’ and ‘the grand old duke of York’ she soon came round, doing the actions and wanted to explore. It was a nice little exploration which I’ll follow up with my flute next I think.

So much noise needed diluting with some outside time and she spent a good 20 minutes just emptying the rain water tub all over the floor… And herself!!

We tried to pull a few of the weeds out of the pumpkin and butternut squash plants and discovered….

They have huge flowers on, hiding beneath those enormous leaves.

Look!!!!! My leek flower is still going!!!! It’s still outside but it has plenty of life in it yet!!!!

My crystals have been outside on my lovely tree stump, enjoying the full moon we have had recently. They are ready and charged up to come back in now….

I love these tree stumps. They sit against a lovely south-west facing wall and it’s a lovely sheltered spot to sit out of the constant breeze up here.
